Aishah Help successfully implemented the Co-op COVID-19 Fund to provide vital food support to some of the most vulnerable individuals affected by the pandemic.
Project Overview
•Location: Tower Hamlets, Newham, and Hackney
•Timeframe: November 2020 – February 2021
•Beneficiaries: 100 vulnerable families, including the elderly, those with health conditions, domestic violence survivors, and low-income households
Key Activities
✔ Food Parcel Distribution: Providing culturally appropriate food to meet the needs of BAME communities.
✔ Emergency Support Network: Working with local schools, social services, and food aid networks to ensure support reaches those most in need.
✔ Partnerships for Food Redistribution: Collaborating with food banks, local businesses, and mutual aid groups to prevent food waste and reach more families.
✔ Volunteer Engagement: 50 volunteers supported outreach and distribution efforts.
Challenges & Response
•High demand: Over 400 applications received for food parcels.
•Rising food costs: Worked with suppliers to ensure continued support despite price increases.
•Language barriers: Partnered with community housing associations to identify and assist non-English speaking families.
